ORGANIZATION FOR WELFARE AND DEVELOPMENT IN ACTION
INVITATION TO OPEN TENDER
Organization for Welfare and Development in Action (OWDA) is a national non-governmental humanitarian organization and established 1999 in jigjiga Ethiopian, serving pastorals and agro-pastoral communities in Ethiopian Somali Regional State. The project will be implemented in the Kebeles Kayane and Kunka in Gode District, in the Shebelle zone of the Somali region, and will also include the Kebele Bursaredo from the previous BMZ intervention. The recurrent climate-related extreme weather events in the region have a negative impact on the extremely vulnerable livelihoods and income opportunities of the local population and undermine the capacity of the communities to fully recover, leading to increased fragility and vulnerability to future disasters. Pastoralism is an efficient economic and social system that works effectively in low and highly variable rainfall conditions. At present, however, pastoral life systems are increasingly under attack by fluctuating environmental conditions. The population is growing, the climate is changing due to recurring dry seasons with impacts on water availability and pasture land and ultimately on the income situation and food security. The consequences of the resulting malnutrition and undernourishment are particularly serious for the most vulnerable groups of the population (children, women and older people). More and more pastoral communities are forced to abandon pastoral production systems. There is therefore an urgent need for action to counteract these negative consequences and provide people with a sustainable livelihood for rural areas in the Somali region and to improve the adaptability of local communities. The project targets a total of 14,751 people in the following locations: Kayane (1,419 people), Kunka (1,148 people), scattered settlements (1,320 people) and Bursaredo (10,864 people). Indirectly, about another 10,000 people will benefit from the new drinking water systems.
This invitation is therefore being to secure competent Contractor (s) for the providing price of purchase of solar supplies and installation pump of kunka and kayane site Woreda, Somali region.
